The Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC) revised its Continuing Education Guidelines for Reregistration in 2024, and it is important to be aware of the changes so you can plan accordingly.
Continuing Education MUST BE Aromatherapy-related or related to your business practice and can include workshops, seminars, professional development offerings, conferences, academic courses, preparation/presentation of a professional education topic relevant to aromatherapy, and an original article written by the candidate and published in a professional journal.
Please note that when applying for Reregistration through Continuing Education, all Applications must include documentation for all of the entries provided. Additionally, for a CE credit to be accepted, it must be verifiable! Therefore, there needs to be a process in place to verify participation.
ARC will not accept certificates that can be downloaded without verification. For example, webinar replays/on-demand webinars can be accompanied by a quiz, written summary, or other means for the organization to verify the Registered Aromatherapist indeed viewed the webinar before a certificate is issued.
Certificates need to contain the participant’s name, date of completion, number of CEs awarded, and the name of the organization.
RAs are now able to enter and save their CEs in their online ARC account. RAs should remember to update their CEs at least once a year so they do not have to be entered all at one time. Also, while not required, we encourage RAs to earn CEs yearly and not wait until the last year or two to try to earn them.
